Our recent publication 'Alfred Wallis: Cornish Primitive Painter' has made Jerwood Gallery's 'Book of the Month'.
The artist Alfred Wallis is best known for his depictions of seascapes and maritime scenes. The painting by Wallis in the Jerwood Collection, Two Boats, is typical of his style and subject matter. Wallis was perhaps an unlikely artist: a reclusive character, living in poverty, he only began painting in his seventies ‘for company’ following the death of his wife.
