Press Release U S Signs Douglas Ljungkvist

Unicorn, the visual art imprint of Unicorn Publishing Group LLP, is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with Brooklyn photographer Douglas Ljungkvist to publish a photo essay, Urban Cars Brooklyn in September, 2018.

Douglas Ljungkvist is a Brooklyn based urban landscape photographer originally from Sweden. His work explores vernacular beauty with a graphic, high-key, and quiet voice. The Urban Cars Brooklyn photos take an affectionate and slightly ironic look at automobiles on Brooklyn's streets and will appeal not only to Brooklynites and other urban residents, but also to car aficionados of all stripes and fans of photography generally.

The title was acquired by Don Linn in Unicorn's Chicago office and continues Unicorn's acquisition expansion into North American markets. Additional titles are expected to be announced in the near future.

Linn said, “We are excited to add to our publishing program here with our agreement with Douglas. He's an extraordinarily talented photographer and his eye for capturing something essential about Brooklyn through its cars with fondness, good humour, and a just a hint of irony is quite an achievement. We are looking forward to sharing this work with a broad audience in the United States and throughout the world.”

Ljungkvist added, “I'm thrilled to work with Unicorn to bring this “labour of love” project that's been ten years in the making to market. For me, the cars offer a glimpse of an era I'm culturally interested in but was too young to experience.”
